  13. I am also an OFW before Master on board the vessel for 10 years until I decided to stop last Apr-07 and engaged in Poultry Layer industries. I knew how start up OFW felt especially with less capital. But for those who are serious enough to invest in any type of business what you will do is a little money to start. The most impt. of all in your decision-making to engage in any business is the assurance how the market will receive your product. Think several times which field you are going into. There are a lot of Banks like Sterling bank of Asia newly established who are encouraging small scale entrepreneurs who want to invest in our country. What is impt. here is your IDEAS you can present & finally convince them that there is a strong potential in the business you are going into. In business, failures of whatever sort is the main ingredient in the success of your venture so don’t forget to rely your hard earned money to anyone. Start-ups need vigor and persistence to keep the business going so don’t give up study your homework very well in paper. It’s better to make mistake in paper rather than wasting your hard earned money in real world. Going abroad is a temporary one, we need to invest here in our country look for the right opportunities and strive it there till you achieve the fruit of hardships. My best regards to all OFW comrades. God bless.

  14. I am in canteen business for several years, recently we expand our operations by opening two more outlet, we have avail micro-financing at nearby rural banks, but later i realized that we cannot sustain operations due to very short term policy of this micro-financing program, until we have no choice than to loan in a hefty interest charges of INDIAN lender. 15. Hi I’m a wife of an OFW and I am starting an Agribusiness particularly in Vegetable Farming to supplement my husband’s income and to be self sustaining. We have already purchased a 1.5ha farm lot very ideal for vegetable farming and have made a projection of the business potential and it’s very good because we are located near Cebu where there is a big demand for vegetable.

I wanted to start right away but I need working capital to have water system for the farm, to build a small farm house, to buy for the High Value hybrid vegetable seeds and fertilizers. Will I be able to qualify for a Micro Finance Loan? What do I need to present if ever.
